Science of Love Ep1

Last year (2013), I shot this successful web series called Science of Happiness with my good friend Mike Bernstein. The first episode of Science of Happiness has more than 2.5 million hits which is amazing number considering that the show does not feature any celebrities or anything really but our contents.

So, this year, we are coming out with our new show (we call it season 2) Science of Love. In January, we shot three episodes at YouTube stage. It was really challenging shoot for me cuz we do shoot a lot of coverage. If you doubt any part of the show is not real, you are wrong. It is all real people experiencing all real stuff with real emotions. They have no idea what they are getting into before they come into the stage. So, that requires a lot of planning ahead and lots of shooting time. Pretty much there is no cut for us once someone start the experience.

We shot on x3 Canon C300s with mainly canon 24-70 II and 70-200 II. Previous season was shot on x2 5D Mark III and x1 C300, but this season, we really wanted to shoot on one kind of camera. YouTube space was really grateful to let us use two of their cameras and we brought one to make that happen.

The biggest part of my challenge is how to tell the story that can happen only once and how to dramatize it by shots. Every show is learning experience to tell story in better ways. This is the only beginning of the new seasons, but hope we capture what essence of the emotion these people left with us.
